Email contents overwritten when forwarding

When I try to forward an email, BCGS overwrites the contents of the email to be forwarded. I use Better Gmail2. Anyone else experiencing this?

Actually, I can now see that if I first hit 'Reply' and hit 'Discard' and then hit 'Reply' again, the email conversation history is correctly placed and indented under the new message without the signature. THIS is what I want - but only by hitting 'Reply' ONCE! ;)

One or two other people have reported this behavior, but I have as of yet been unable to reproduce it in order to figure out what's going on. What version of the add-on are you using? Try upgrading to the most recent and see if that helps. If not, try disabling all add-ons, then re-enabling them one by one starting with BC Gmail Sigs.

I use the latest version 1.11.07 and still have these problems. The signature is also replaced when replying. Does this add-on support Better Gmail 2? (which I'm using). Thank you.

Any progress?

Unfortunately, given that I have never been able to reproduce this myself, I haven't been able to fix the issue.

It did just occur to me that your message may be over-written because it was writtin within the wrapping <blockquote> tags that I use to denote the signature itself. I will see if there is anything that I can do in order to use something else as some mail programs wrap their quoted text in a blockquote.

I've been having this problem also. Today I finally think I figured out at least some of why it wasn't working for me. On my signatures, I attach a graphig pulled in from my picasa web album. I also had a link to a website attached to the graphic. I tried removing the graphic and link and it worked fine. I then re added the graphic without the link and it still works. If I do this on the defult sig only, then I can still change to any of the other three with the link in tact and it holds. I don't know anything about writing these kind of scripts but this might at least shed some light on the issue. Maybe now you can recreate the problem and find a work around.

Yes, I also have a link to a web-based image in my signature, but I don't see how this should create a problem with inserting the signature above the quoted text.

I tested it again, and it seems that I can make it work if I choose the Signature Position option "below quoted text". It's  not what I want and looks stupid, but it works for now... Does it have anything to do with this, ie. placing the signature ABOVE the quoted text is what messes things up??

Again, I think that the problem has more to do with the fact that I'm wrapping the signature in a <blockquote> tag, which is used by some email clients to designate quoted text, so if you get a response from someone that uses one of these clients, your signature will overwrite the quopted text as it replaces everything within a <blockquote> tag. I'll try to improve the pattern matching on the next version.

I have this problem as well.

I have versoin 1.11.07

I also have:

Better gmail2 (.7)

AND

in my signature, I have one photo from my picassa web album, and another from another site.  See below (personal data has been changed)

<img src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_A9NZHkZMBvw/R_TZ9CI_cQI/AAAAAAAAF1g/Qsb-OnP-5mQ/S220/IMG_xxxx.JPG" style="float:left; width:50px; height:50px; margin-right:10px; border:none;" width="75" height="75" alt="jshu1" /><b>Jshu1</b><br>XXX xxx xxxx<br>xxx xxx xxxx (fax) <br><i>Representing </i> <a href="http://dealer-magazine.com" target="_blank">Dealer Communications</a><br>Media that takes you inside America's new car dealerships<br>
<a href="http://digitaldealerconference.com" target="_blank">Creators of the Digital Dealer Conference  & Exposition</a><br>
<img src="http://www.dealer-magazine.com/images/upload/current1.jpg" style="float left; width:120px; height:75px;>

When I forward a message, the quoted content goes away (I see it momentarily, then as the signature images load it goes away -- as though the quote is being replaced).

I do NOT have this problem when replying, and that, in fact is my workaround -- reply, then chage the to: address to reflect the correct recipient.

Hope this helps with diagnosis!  Thanks for all the great work!
