The edit pane is read only with the latest version of Firefox. Ive tried uninstalling and installing Add-ons multiple times. No luck. As a result, I can't change the signature on accounts in which I've alreday created a signature and I can't add a signature on new Gmail accounts. I have an iMac 5.1 that's running Mac OS X 10.4.11. Any suggestions? I uninstalled all Add-Ons and then re-installed Blank Canvas. Again, no luck.

I am having the exact same problem running FF 3.0.3 / Mac OSX 10.5.5 - the signature html text field cannot be edited.

well I had the same problem, I couldn't click in the Signature HTML code text pane, but I finally found the simplest of fix, I am just surprised I didn't think about that before...
Click in the gmail text field near the [Search Mail] button (top left).
Press Tab until you reach the Signature HTML code text pane (should be 6 times Tab).
That's it, it's now editable!!!! Enjoy...

Faycal's suggestion helped me, thanks. However, once I'm in the editing box with my cursor, I can only type. I was unable to paste in the html that I had prepared elsewhere. I had to retype everything, line by line.
And if I want to click back into an earlier line within the edit box, I can't; I had to delete back to where I wanted to change something and then retype everything. So it's tremendously tedious do any work within this editing box in the current situation. I cannot easily edit previous work.
I hope there might be a bug fix for this problem soon. Thanks.
